Recommendations for Actions
1. The steering committee needs to brainstorm and suggest themes or focal points. For example, how do you teach X? Big data, security, etc.
2. The steering committee should identify visionaries for each theme, who will encourage bringing papers and industry people, along with developing workshops, panels, etc. to share ideas.
The value proposition focuses on two main areas:
1. IEEE publication (tenure points)
2. Learn and network together -- we should encourage networking! Perhaps have mixer events (research interests speed dating?), and distribute the list of attendees (with opt out) to the other attendees.
We need to conduct surveys of attendees (and possibly non-attendees) and publicize the results.
We should do outreach to:
1. Computer science community
2. The SWEBOK and other curriculum guide communities
3. Education folks
4. Training folks
We should consider using video of CSEE&T sessions, especially keynotes, as a publicity measure. For example, can we make them publicly available on YouTube or other broadly watched venues?
We should investigate the features and benefits of becoming an IEEE hybrid conference. This apparently supports some kind of virtual attendance?
In terms of what's unique about CSEE&T
1. We talk about how to teach. A tutorial on the topic how to teach X?
2. We might consider demonstrations of specific methods of teaching. Actually have someone teach a session using one or more specific methods.
3. Should we consider certificates of attendance? If you attend CSEE&T for n years, or perhaps participate in y workshops and tutorials, you get a certificate of attendance?
4. Should CSEE&T be a recruiting point for industry and universities looking for specific expertise?
