New Airplane Models Created for CRRCSIM

The models, the 3D file as well as the configuration file are created by myself (DESIGNER 2010) and are  available for free download under the GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE of 1991, the same license as for the CRRCSIM program.

The flight configuration file,   which I will call FCF,  will be a slightly modified file from an existing model,  tested in the simulator for a reasonable level of accuracy.  These files are located at SourceForge at the project 3DAirplane Models

   1:10 Scale Models (electric)

Mikoyan Ye-2

  Mikoyan Ye-2  1:10 Scale

Download at Sourceforge  3DAirplane Models

This is an updated model of the Ye-2 with retractable landing gear. The landing gear retracts too far into the wings and the pilot looks too high, hopefully this will be fixed in the next version.  This is version 32 of the model

Unzip the files, copy the .3ds file to the objects folder and the configuration file .xml to the models folder. (Model Launched 23 Sep 2023)

In Linux the CRRCSIM folder is in /usr/share/games

Mikoyan Ye-2

  Mikoyan Ye-2 (Unknown scale)

This model is based on the Sport configuration file,  and the model was uploaded to RC Groups in 2021.  The model flies well, with neutral roll stability and low pitch response in keeping with its jet character.  The model is being revised and updated, and will be relegated to an 'early release' link once the improvements are completed.    Actual span: 8.11 m,  Length: 13.23 m (with probe) giving model lengths of  span 81.1 cm by 132 cm for 1:10 and  span of 40 cm by 66 cm for 1:20 scale models. In terms of imperial units, this works out to a span of 2.6575 ft and a length of 4.33 ft.

Pilatus PC 9 V2

 Pilatus PC9 Model (1:10 Scale)

This model is based on a modified version of the 1/6 scale version, and is colored differently, and features retractable landing gear.  The original model was fast and heavy,  almost impossible to land: 1 metre in wingspan and weighing 1.7 kg, this was reduced to the Sport model weight of 1.3 kg which is more reasonable, flies better now.

Download the new model file from

3DAirplane Models   The file is named PC9TenScaleV2.zip

Unzip the files, copy the .3ds file to the objects folder and the configuration file .xml to the models folder. (Model Launched 23 Sep 2023)

The previous version is available as PC9TenScaleElectricRG.zip

The EDF Ouragan Model

Dassault Ouragan (1:10 Scale)

The Ouragan flight model is based on the electric flying wing  Zagi. The way the model flies sees close to the 1.2 metre model in this You Tube video.

In Development : 1:20 scale Simple Delta

Simple Delta  (1:20 Scale)

The simplest possible delta based on the MAV model.  Power is insufficient to hold altitude in the base configuration, engine power has to be increased

1:10 scale

 S.N.C.A.S.E SE 212 Durandal

This simple and attractive French turbojet and rocket powered aircraft has long been a favourite model subject.  Here I create a model based on the Zagi flying wing electric model.

 Quadcopter Models

The GenQuadCopter2021

GenQuadCopter2021

The Drone Model is based on the standard drone model in CRRCSIM. The mass of the model has been adjusted in the configuration file to make the model easier to fly, and is within reasonable limits.

Unzip the files, copy the .3ds file (which has to be renamed GenQuadCopter2021.) to the objects folder and the configuration file .xml to the models folder.

 Large Scale Models (1:6)

Pilatus PC - 9

This is a 1:7 scale model of the Pilatus PC - 9 in green, with non retractable landing gear.  Elevator rates need to be reduced for realism. Uses the Sport model configuration file without changes.

Unzip the files, copy the .3ds file to the objects folder and the configuration file .xml to the models folder.

Dassault MD 450 Ouragan  - Slope Soarer

PSS (Power Slope Soarer ) Version.  This is an unpowered glider model based on the Wasabi configuration file.   The drag coefficient has been increased, to match the profile of the Ouragan, however it may be too high.  Aileron sensitivity as well as elevator sensitivity is very high and unchanged from the Wasabi model, which in turn requires some exponential settings to make it easier to handle.  With a 13 metre span of the original,  the 1/7 scale model works out to 1.88 metres in span.

Mikoyan Ye-2  Jet Fighter Prototype (1:10 scale)

This neat and attractive jet fighter from 1956 was the alternate model to the delta winged Mig-21 prototypes.  I chose it as a model subject due to its neat appearance, the classic swept wing fighter jet layout epitomized.

The model listed above is a version listed on RC Groups

Simple Delta Plane (1:10 scale)

Simple delta planes made out of foamboard are able to fly slowly and are simple to build. These may be good trainers, I attempt to build a model here and test it out.  Can it be built to weigh less than 250 g? 500g?

The model pictured is an early prototype built to test tranparent tail fins to make it look like a tailless stealth, and is based on the SuperZagi model.
