Volume 4

What are people saying about this album?

I am very excited to be spinning the brand new album by the Crooked Pine Band from the mountain peaks and coves of the Transylvania County area, N.C., including a generous dose of classic West Virginia tunes---from a romping Elzic's Farewell to a refreshingly warm take on Hazel's Clay County Miner. This album is a pure joy for any fan of West Virginia or good-old-Appalachian-American music. Straight from the heart...

I had this treat arrive through my letterbox yesterday. Fourth CD, made, as some of you know, by my good friends from North Carolina THE CROOKED PINE BAND. Is it their best album? With five hearings so far, I'm leaning towards a big YES! It has a timeless feel to it and a sense like it was made by four friends who care deeply about this music. Which of course is the case. Others here reading this will also own this disc --- what do you think ?

Hi Andy,

Many thanks for passing me a copy of Crooked Pine Band. Have been playing it all this morning while doing a bit of admin on the computer. Will you send my thanks and regards to your friend Frank and let him know how much I enjoyed this album. As you know I am not an “Americana” folk and country expert but this music appealed to me in so many ways. I enjoy music that is traditional and reflects social history and the band’s album ticks all those boxes while recognizing its influences and roots. Also, great sleeve notes. Again thanks to Frank and those guys in Crooked Pine

Cheers - Bill

Most peaceful ride to work I've ever had - partly due to the beautiful weather, but mostly due to these amazing guys on the new album I just received in the mail from Crooked Pine String Band! Thank you Frank McConnell for your kindness. This album sounds great Marion Boatwright & Craig Bannerman! For my friends who haven't had the pleasure of knowing these guys - enjoy a little something from their last record - Dawn A

Great tunes by talented folks! I’ve been listening to this a lot in the car, and particularly like the Brand New Tennessee Waltz. Highly recommended! – Jack C
