Dear Ranger Morrison:
I support the Dark Sky Amateur Astronomy campground proposal.
Several years ago, my wife, Annie Grauer, suggested naming this facility the"Cosmic Campground". I strongly suggest that this is what it be called. Owing to the dark skies, high elevation, and frequency of clear weather it will offer some of the best views of the night sky anywhere in the world. The name should refect this.
As a Professor of Astronomy for more than 30 years, I have observed extensively at professional observatory sites in Arizona, Hawaii, Chile, and Australia. I can say without equivocation that the proposed site in Catron county ranks with the best of these locations. It will be one of the best observing sites in the world. I expect that the list of people who come to use this facility will refect this fact.
Please let me know how I can assist in advancing this proposal.
Sincerely,
Dr. Albert D. Grauer
