Text Alert Scheme
Corofin Community Text Alert Scheme
The Corofin Community Alert Text Alert Scheme was launched in 2013 in the hopes that it will help to make our community a safer place.
The purpose of the text alert system is to alert members of the public to crime that is happening in the region and to give details of suspect vehicles or persons who may be involved in the commission of crime.
The Garda commissioner’s report into the Text Alert initiative was released at the National Ploughing Championship in September 2013 and contains structures and guidelines for all community alert schemes to follow.
In order to adhere to those requirements:
- We have registered with the Tuam Garda Station.
- We have taken out the required insurance policy
- An account has been set up with an approved text alert service provider.
If you notice anything or anyone suspicious in your locality:
Report it to Tuam Garda station on (093)70840.
Tell them that you are a member of the Corofin text alert scheme.
Gardai will follow up on your call and if further investigation shows the person or vehicle to be of interest an alert containing the relevant details will be sent to everyone on the scheme.
“Large amount of counterfeit € 50 notes in circulation please look out for 2 males travelling in black XXXX car, report any suspicious activity to your local Gardai"
"A number of burglaries occurred last night in XXX area, a green Ford Mondeo was stolen reg no XXXX, please report any sightings to your local gardai."
