Installation and upgrades

In order to install CornerFix, first download the appropriate install file. Then, depending on your operating system, do the following:

Windows

Installing

    1. Important: Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Windows that you are running. To find recent security updates, visit Windows Update.
    2. If you are running Windows XP, and it is not already present on your computer, install the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package. This can be obtained from this location.
    3. Follow the install instructions on the download page.
    4. Note: .NET is already installed on most new PC's by default. You can check whether it is already installed on yours by going to Start->Control Panel->Add and Remove Programs and seeing whether “Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0” appears on the list of installed programs.
    5. Note: .NET is is a large download.
    6. Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package. This can be obtained from this location.
    7. Follow the install instructions on the download page.
    8. Unzip the CornerFix.zip file by double-clicking on it. Then simply copy the files to any convenient location, such as your desktop. To run CornerFix for Windows, just double-click the cornerfixw.exe file.

Upgrading

In order to upgrade CornerFix for Windows, follow these two steps. Note that you may need administrator permissions:

    1. Unzip the CornerFix.zip file by double-clicking on it. Then simply copy the files over the previous version. To run CornerFix for Windows, just double-click the cornerfixw.exe file.
    2. If you are upgrading from a version of CornerFix for Windows prior to 1.0.0.0, you will have to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package, as discussed above. Prior versions used the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package

Mac OS X

Installing

    1. Important: Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Mac OS that you are running.
    2. UnZip the CornerFix distribution file.
    3. Drag the CornerFix.app file to your Applications folder

Updating

    1. Follow the same procedure as for a new install.
