What is this Event?
The 7th Edition of Chennai Marathon is now called Skechers Performance Chennai Marathon 2019, previously Known as The Wipro Chennai Marathon, is the largest sporting event in Chennai. Organized by Chennai Runners, it is one of the few running events in the country that is entirely organized by the running community. The event was held on January 6, 2019 and the starting point for the Runners was Nandanam YMCA. The destinations varied according to the Runner's running distance.
Running Categories
The Chennai Marathon is now the country’s second largest marathon after Mumbai and the largest sporting event in Chennai. There are four race categories, the 10 Km, the Half Marathon (21.097 Km), Perfect 20 Miler (32.186 Km) and Full Marathon (42.195 Km). The Event is held on the first Sunday in January every year. The marathon route covers some of Chennai’s historic landmarks.
Dhurai runs longer
There were over 20,000 Runners participated in this edition of the Chennai Marathon. One of the participants was Periyar Nagar's Dhurai Anandhi Navaneetham. He had been a Chennai Kidathon regular, now graduating to test his long distance running.

Beating the clock
Dhurai is a Class X student of Maharishi Vidya Mandir at Chetpet. He completed his first 10 km run with duration of 1 hour and 23 seconds. He ranked 428 among 13130 runners in 10 km category. This 15 year old says he becomes eligible to run Half Marathon only when he turns 18! He hopes to continue running and aims his Full Marathon one day!
