Norberto remodeled our house in San Miguel this past year, and my wife and I both agree that he did a terrific job on a challenging project. It was our first major remodeling and Norberto's calm, reassuring demeanor helped us relax and make what we feel were a series of good decisions. What began as a small project evolved into a much bigger remodel as we became more enthused about how it was going. We evolved things as we went along- providing good reference photo's to Norberto which he copied beautifully. The work was mostly done while we were home in Minnesota. His son Miguel did a great job of keeping us in the loop by emailing update photo's and by sending us 3-D imagery that he created on Google Sketch-up. It helped tremendously that their command of English is excellent (we are both learning Spanish, but are novices). Norberto and Miguel are great problem solvers. If you know what you want they'll make it happen and do it with integrity and it will be rock solid from an engineering standpoint. Like any builder the best insurance against overruns is to give clear direction and leave nothing to interpretation. They have a reputation as being underbid by other builders who then end up costing more in the end. Some friends that were remodeling a house simultaneously with us went with another builder (that we were also considering) and, ironically, they ended up hiring Norberto to redo some of the work. By the way, his tiles guys are the best. We were provided with a weekly spreadsheet on costs and schedule. He met the predicted timeline- at one point we estimated that he had 30 guys working on the house.

In short, the best thing I can say is that we broke a couple of the rules of remodeling a house in Mexico and it still managed to come out the way we wanted it.
