The most popular model of the Ansar 2 compass is the type with rear facing cupola. I have also made Ansar 2 compasses with the cupola facing upwards.
An advantage of this orientation is that the angles for viewing the compass can be chosen freely, for example around 60 to 90 degrees from the boats center line, suitable for example for a
catamaran with a compass mounted at the mast. Or a dinghy with the compass mounted just a bit forward of the viewer, where he can reach it for adjustment easier than when it is mounted well forward in the boat.
But I was not totally happy with these compasses because I had difficulties to make good movable markers, on Silva/Nexus/Garmin for this model.
Contact if you are interested. I will see what I can offer today!
The world's fastest skate sail, 120 km/h (75 MPH) is another of my top performance designs.
