Hawker Cygnet G-EBJI
I started building my 1924 Hawker Cygnet G-EBJI in 1993 when I acquired a full set of drawings as advertised in the PFA magazine.
In 2010 she was finally finished and re-assembled down at Old Warden Aerodrome, Biggleswade ready for test flying.
Built in the living room of my house over a 17 years period, mainly out of Sitka spruce and covered in Ceconite with a polished aluminium cowling.
Her first test flight took place successfully in the hands of Rob Millinship at Old Warden
She was a regular participant at The Shuttleworths Collections air shows often alongside their other Lympne trials aircraft of the period.
My Hawker Cygnet, during engine ground runs prior to getting her permit to fly . This aircraft has a 1937 JAP J99 flat twin aero Engine installed, with a Leburg ignition system and fitted with one of my own polished Mahogany propellers.
G-EBJI flying in formation along side the only other flying Hawker Cygnet G-CAMM, built by the late Don Cashmore and now owned by the Shuttleworth Collection, during one of the many flying displays at Old Warden.
My Hawker Cygnet G-EBJI Has also been sold to the Real Aeroplane Club at Breighton , West Yorkshire
