Hydronic air handlers have been an integral aspect of central heating and cooling systems for years. These units transfer energy efficiently from hydronic boilers and A/C units throughout spaces using centralized ductwork. Arctic Air Handlers provide the latest advancements in efficiency and technology that can set new standards in the industry.
Arctic hydronic air handlers have advanced features like variable frequency drive (VFD) and 6-row heat exchangers, which make them the most efficient on the market. These features work effectively with lower-temperature heating sources like hydronic heat pumps, geothermal systems, and condensing boilers. These heating sources are inherently more efficient at lower temperatures.
6-Row Hydronic Heat Exchangers
The Arctic Air Handler features 6-row hydronic copper and aluminum heat exchangers with 1” inlet/outlet lines. This design is around 400% larger than typical heat exchangers, which maximizes heat transfer even at lower water temperatures.
Despite their efficiency at lower temperatures, these air handlers are highly versatile enough to work with traditional high-temperature boilers. These units are outputting up to 150,000 BTU at 190ºF. The innovative internal loop design offers a low-pressure loss of 3.1 Feet Head at 10 GPM.
3-Phase Direct Drive Motors with Variable Speeds
Arctic Air Handlers use 3-phase direct drive motors with variable speeds, which eliminate the need for startup capacitors and result in ultra-quiet, energy-efficient operation. The motor dynamically adjusts to use the necessary power and is powerful enough to deliver up to 1750 cubic feet of air per minute. The VFD controller converts single-phase power to 3-phase, which can enhance overall efficiency.
The WAG Variable Speed Drive Controller converts single-phase 120 VAC to more efficient 3-phase power to operate the fan motor effectively. This controller modulates power output to match the load and consumes less than 100 watts at constant fan speed.
Through an intuitive touch interface, you can easily program individual fan speed settings for cooling, heating, and fan-only modes. The system can also monitor and adjust to changes in static pressure, such as closed vents or dirty filters, providing maximum performance.
Arctic hydronic air handlers feature variable-speed fan control and allow one size to cover a wide spectrum of heating and cooling needs. The Arctic LV-Z-1750 model can produce 3.5 to 5 tons of heating/cooling, whereas the smaller LV-Z1050 model can supply 1.5 to 3 tons.
The VFD hydronic air handler features a built-in static pressure sensor that sets the optimum fan speed based on the house design automatically. This doesn’t require you to size the fan to the duct size, which allows you to make automatic or manual speed adjustments based on static pressure measurements.
Arctic hydronic air handlers improve efficiency and versatility in central heating and cooling systems. Manufactured with advanced technology and innovative design, these systems provide optimal performance across a range of temperatures and heating sources. That’s the reason why this hydronic air handler makes a good choice for modern energy-efficient homes.
