Hello,
I am re-reading a book series that I am madly in love with. This book is not just a ONE NIGHT STAND. No my friend! This book is one that you call back and you sit waiting for the call back. This series leaves you begging for more. Unfortunately I have to wait until the 21st of this month to get more....ahhh....but fear not, I have found a way to please myself until then! Ok, the foreplay has been going on long enough, let's get to the nitty gritty! The series is called The Hollows and it is written by the esteemed Kim Harrison herself. I am reading is. "White Witch, Black Curse!" This series has about 10 books in it. I say about because on the 21st of this month another one comes....out. I tell you what...when a series that has more than five already in it gets me going! I hate nothing more than reading a book that I FALL IN LOVE WITH, not just enjoy for the evening and think, and lo and freaking behold, the next one has not been published yet? I can't stand it when I finish the book, and it is a book that leaves me wanting more and what happens...I HAVE TO WAIT A FREAKING YEAR OR MORE to read the next book. Oh, hell no! Give me more and give me more when I want it! Moving on...
So, a little bit about the series: Rachel is an unlucky witch with an extra side of mistakes. Yet, she does all of this with the best intentions (I think I know her) and yet as the saying goes, no good dead goes unpunished. She lives in one of the best worlds ever!! It is based on America today, but it has a twist. The most tantalizing twist to it. This world is one that exists with witches, vampires, pixies, werewolves, and many other creatures of my dreams. What happened was years ago a bioengered tomato started killing off humans and everyone started freaking out. People started wondering what was the difference between the people who were dying and the survivors. This prompted the supernaturals to come forth and say, "Hey, we exist. Deal with it." Ahh...if only1
Calling all supernaturals...it is time to COME OUT OF THE SUPER CLOSET!!
Anywho...moving on to our beloved Rachel, the world that she lives has thrown some major challenges her ways. She has survived many things, but being a witch is not easy. Against all odds, she stops working as a bounty hunter for the corrupt supernatural version of our cities police force, only to find that things are more difficult. She moves into a church with a vampire who is gorgeous and makes her question her sexual identity (and to be honest, some of the moments they get into make me almost question mine). She brings her pixie, a feisty, fertile grown 4 in male who is quiet the character and ends up adopting a gargoyle and a ghost, and becomes a student to a demon who once almost killed her. to top that all of, she is having all sorts or issues with, this elf named Trent (and damn is he hot and their sexual tension is so hot it leaves me sweating). Well, his daddy used to mess with genetics and he just so happened to tamper with Rachel's genes and took her existance as a sick witch and somehow changed her into a healthy psedo demon! Whew....and I just dumbed it down a lot. Trust me it is one hell of a read.
This particular book: I am loving this book. It has a crazy storyline! Rachel has just barely come up for air after her gorgeous vampire boyfriend died-twice for her. Yet, as soon as she turns around she finds that a ghost she helped when she 18 has been lurking around her for a few years, and her ex boyfriend, a criminal thief, summons her as a demon. He is able to do this for many reasons, but the main reason is that the COVEN the national police for witches wants to use her ovaries to make little mini demons. Her teacher, Demon Al, tries to help her but what can we say....he is a demon and his motives are not as pure as let's say ours (insert random cough here). I am now at the part where they are going to break into Trent's house to get something that she can use as blackmail to encourage him to talk to her. She really needs his support because she wants to keep her ovaries and wants to get her life back. Oh yea, the COVEN has banned her. This is a HUGE DEAL. No one will hire her or sell anything to her. This is so upsetting that her Mom even had to move so that she can make a living.
Now, here is my question to those of you who will read this book or have already read it: Is it just me (and in all honest it might be, hence the title) or is there some major sexual tension between Al and Rachel and I don't think I am totally against it.
Anyway, I have loved this series from the first time I saw the title at my local library and got it! (Dead Witch Walking) If you need something to read, check it out and let me know what you think along the way!!
