MS list of records at Cruwys Morchard House

Devon Record Office Acquisition no. 1285

Transcribed by Debbie Kennett

According to the staff at the Devon Record Office in Exeter, this document was deposited there in 1964 by Mrs Margaret Campbell Speke Cruwys. The deposit is a bound booklet of 171 foolscap pages. By January 1973 it was noted that the document could not be found. When DK initially enquired about the document she was informed that it was missing. The DRO were subsequently able to locate the document by using their old paper-based location list which contains some location references not on the regularly used computer index. The pages were filmed on 13th March 2003. MC transcribed most surnames in upper case but was not consistent. In this transcription all surnames have been changed to upper case. She also wrote out some place names in capital letters. These have all been transcribed with just an initial capital letter. All DK notes and insertions are shown in square brackets. MC notes and question marks are in round brackets.
