A little about myself. I grew up on a farm in rural Dawson, MN. I graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School. I started my collegiate career at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA but ended up transferring to Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN where I graduated with a BA in History. In 2003 I took my first teaching job at Arthur Ashe Middle School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I spent three years at AAMS where I taught 7th grade Geography and 8th grade American History. I also coached boys and girls basketball, boys volleyball, and track. In 2006 I moved to Sioux Falls, SD where I attended graduate school at the University of Sioux Falls. After completing my masters program (Education) I took a job teaching and coaching at South Broward High School in Hollywood, FL. At SBHS I taught 10th grade World History and 11th grade American History. I was also the head boys basketball coach and an assistant football coach. In 2010 I started teaching and coaching at Deuel High School in Clear Lake, SD. At DHS I was the entire Social Studies Department (meaning I taught 9th World History, 10th Geography, 11th American History, 12th Government, and 12th Economics). In addition I was the head football coach, an assistant girls basketball coach, middle school track coach, and student government advisor. I left Deuel at the conclusion of the 2018 school year to teach and coach at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, GA. In addition to teaching US History and American Government at Chattahoochee; I also coached football (Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/DL), was a Saturday School Supervisor, and Stadium Manager for lacrosse, soccer, and track in the Spring. Additionally, I coached FR/JV Boys Basketball, including the 2020 State Championship year! After spending five years at CHS, I moved to Las Vegas in 2023 where I spent my first year at Palo Verde High School teaching World History, Government, Economics, and Freshman Studies; while also serving as the Defensive Line Coach. In January of 2024 I was hired to be the Head Football Coach at Desert Oasis High School where I am currently teaching and coaching (Government, Economics, History of Pop Music, and Freshman Studies).
Extra Help
I will make every effort to meet the needs of my students. This includes being available for extra help and study sessions. I am generally at DOHS by 6:45 each morning and am available up until the start of first period. I am also available during lunch and my 8th period planning. Just be sure to check with me because often we will have department meetings, professional learning communities, and other obligations that would limit my availability. You can also email me if you have questions and I will try to respond as soon as possible.
Curriculum Night Presentation
I will NOT be updating this website in terms of the dates that you may see for units beginning, ending, assessment dates, assignments, etc. Because of the possibility that we could still shift to a virtual model and individual students may be required to quarantine from time to time we will not be using this website as our primary point of entry. We will continue to use TEAMS as our primary "website" and students will be using it to get information, find assignments, and take assessments. That being said we will transition back to more traditional paper/pencil style assignments that will be physically turned in. Feel free to use this website to find additional information, help study, etc. It will be a resource. TEAMS should serve as your primary point of contact. As always if you have questions contact me.
