American Government (9th)

United States History (11th)

A little about myself.  I grew up on a farm in rural Dawson, MN.  I graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School.  I started my collegiate career at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA but ended up transferring to Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN where I graduated with a BA in History.  In 2003 I took my first teaching job at Arthur Ashe Middle School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  I spent three years at AAMS where I taught 7th grade Geography and 8th grade American History.  I also coached boys basketball, boys volleyball, and track.  In 2006 I moved to Sioux Falls, SD where I attended graduate school at the University of Sioux Falls.  After completing my masters program (Education) I took a job teaching and coaching at South Broward High School in Hollywood, FL.  At SBHS I taught 10th grade World History and 11th grade American History.  I was also the head boys basketball coach and an assistant football coach.  In 2010 I started teaching and coaching at Deuel High School in Clear Lake, SD.  At DHS I was the entire Social Studies Department (meaning I taught 9th World History, 10th Geography, 11th American History, 12th Government, and 12th Economics).  In addition I was the head football coach, an assistant girls basketball coach, middle school track coach, and student government advisor.  I left Deuel at the conclusion of this past school year (2018) to teach here at Chattahoochee High School.  This will be my 14th year in the classroom.  In addition to teaching US History and Government at Chattahoochee; I am also the Defensive Line Coach and an Assistant Track Coach.

Extra Help
I will make every effort to meet the needs of my students.  This includes being available for extra help and study sessions.  I am generally at Chattahoochee by 6:30 each morning and am available up until the start of first period.  Because I may be moving around in preparation for the day I ask that students make arrangements with me the day prior.  I am also available during my 3rd period planning and my 5th period lunch.  Just be sure to check with me because often we will have department meetings, professional learning communities, and other obligations that would limit my availability.  You can also email me if you have questions and I will try to respond as soon as possible.
