Return to the Twelve Running Standards
Chapter 12. Standard #9: Compression
Are you wearing compression socks?
Key Motivation. Compression is relatively easy way to assist the body’s circulation and lymphatic systems in restoring worked tissue.
Compression socks work. Buy a pair and wear them as often and consistent as possible.
Carrying a water bottle spiked with salts and getting up whenever possible assists the body’s blood and lymph systems in getting fluids into, out of and around the cells.
Think about the needs of the tissues and internal chemistry. Answering these needs makes for both a better tomorrow and a better future. After a tough workout, it is more important than ever to eat nutritious meals, rehydrate, spend time moving, massaging and rolling your tissues and get good rest to let the systems do their repair work.
Maintain discipline: Stand often and walk often to turn on the lymphatic system and continue with repairs.
Wear compression socks after the daily workout and when we fly.
