Shogibanizer 2024
The CSB is pleased to announce the 2024 edition of the Shogibanizer, the fastest tournament in France!
As the only French tournament using rapid time controls of 20 minutes with a 40-second increment, the Shogibanizer is the sole event where you can play 11 rounds in a single weekend! Any new player can obtain their Elo rating! And for those who already have an Elo rating, please note that the average rating change per player is +41, a unique opportunity to achieve a new rank!

40 euros - This rate includes access to the tournament and meals on Saturday noon and Sunday noon (meals at the CIS cafeteria).
Reduced rate - for players with an Elo rating > 1600!!
Accompanying persons - the rates are explained during registration so that they can also enjoy the surroundings.

The bus that connects the train station to the tournament venue is the L3 or L6 (stop: TEMIS).
If you have specific dietary requirements or allergies, please remember to mention them on your registration form.
If you wish to make announcements about shogi-related events on the tournament day, let us know, and we will allocate you some speaking time!

The organizing club reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone subject to a federal sanction or whose case is under review. If you have any doubts, please contact us.
Additional arbitration and organization questions
Regarding the notion of forfeit:
It is possible to choose to withdraw from the tournament by announcing it at the end of a game, before the new pairings have started. This will result in leaving the tournament permanently. If the round has been announced, and a player declares a forfeit, then it will be counted as a loss for them.
Regarding drawn games:
In accordance with the time management of the event and as specified in Article 12.3 of the FESA – Shogi official playing rules, if a repeated position occurs in a game, a tiebreaker game will be played under the following conditions: 8 minutes per player, without byo-yomi, with a switch of Sente and Gote. This is an absolute time.
If, for any reason, the arbiter has doubts about an agreement, in accordance with rule 13.4 of the FESA, they would be entitled to apply an appropriate sanction, particularly in choosing who is considered the winner. In the case of the Shogibanizer, it has been decided by the arbiters and the organizing team that any doubt would favor the player with the lower Elo rating, following the philosophy that if the stronger player is unable to win, it indicates that the opponent has more merit in their performance. In the case of a proven agreement, it would lead to the exclusion of both players and a request for sanctions to the FESA regarding Elo ratings.
Regarding tiebreak criteria:
The Swiss system is used, and the following tiebreak criteria are retained for the American grid: NBW, SOS, SODOS, SOSOS.
