It has been a while since I made a post here, I expect for it to take a while until I post again. In the month of August, nothing much related to clones is happening right now. Nevertheless, here is the news for what happened last month, and what is happening this month.
Pip shut down the long lasting Uiiverse in July 25 last month. One of the largest clones that still existed in 2020, the shutdown of Uiiverse could potentially signal the end of Miiverse clones. Additionally, a Uiiverse-based rehost of Cedar was shut down on July 29.
On August 3, 2020, the YouTube user Ryan Jordan reuploaded a video of the Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch song "Coner's Rant". The "song" was actually the lead singer Dick Dale reading the rant with a guitar instrumental playing. The channel that reuploaded this video also reuploads other music videos, though it is unknown how this person got a hold of the video.
The Miiverse clone developer SMF9, commonly known as the creator of the Closedverse rehost wakemeupinside.cf, announced his new Miiverse clone, known as Nextverse. Nextverse is an Indigo rehost written in Golang that will be hosted under itisadomain.net at an unknown date. Its Twitter account is @Nextverse1, and will be available in English, Spanish and French. Its compatibility with the 3DS, New 3DS, Wii U, and Switch is currently being tested. Alongside the clone itself, SMF9 also has plans for "Next U Projects", including NextTVii, a place to watch things for free, and Nextshop, a new version of the Homebrew eShop alternative Freeshop.
