Science fiction in many books has looked into the growth of the human population even to the extent converting all matter into human brains and using alternative universes. The more relative near term urgent question being how many people can this earth support?
With man's ingenuity of the past 200 years we have been able to feed more people than ever thought possible, but there is a natural limit, weather it be 10,100 of even 1,000 billion.
So how do we approach this risk assessment, population control? Survival of the fittest?
In the short term the answer appears to be to hang on in there while we can to preserve life in all its varied forms.
For the next century or so there looks like there is enough ways to increase food, energy and general living requirements, even so there need to be some very pro-active political decisions made.
By 2030, the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) predicted that world population will grow from 6 billion to 8.3 billion
Feeding an ever increasing world
Quality of life is important we all need a place to live with a roof over our head, food on our plates, water to drink and wash with adequate supplies for sanitation, fuel for warmth . This is true for animals as they need habitats, food and water, Humans also need a purpose and a function in life much more than basic animal instincts. Communities require heath care, education, work, transportation, recreation etc all this requires a level of infrastructure and energy supply.
