Barrett Lab Home

News from the Barrett Lab:

February was a big week for Barrett Lab alumni. Jill Newman (MS, '17) will be starting a position as Herpetologist with Vandenberg Space Force Base and Mike Knoerr (MS, '18) will soon begin work as a Wildlife Biologist with the US Forest Service in Pisgah National Forest.

Megan Novak was hooded during the December graduation ceremony and is now Dr. Novak! It was so much fun to get to participate in the ceremony with her, and I'm excited that she's now a Lecturer in Biological Sciences at Clemson. Our students over there are lucky to have her.

The Barrett Lab welcomes Robert Chamberlin, who recently joined the lab to pursue his MS in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology! Robert is interested in the relationships between water quality and amphibian behavior.

Emma Rogers (MS) and Maddie Stephens (undergraduate researcher) presented on their box turtle research at the 2023 North American Box Turtle Conservation Workshop in Gainesville, GA.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Megan Novak, who successfully defended her dissertation in August!! Megan's dissertation evaluated the environmental variables that predict salamander habitat use and connectivity across scales, and her findings will benefit management planning by SC DNR and federal agencies. Megan will begin her new position as a lecturer in Biological Sciences at Clemson on Aug. 15!
