Oct 2015 Reunion Dinner -- Civil Engineering Class of '67
Notes from non-attendees
Renzo Negrelli
I hope this finds you all well. Just to let you know that I won't be attending the dinner. I hope it's a successful night. Please pass on my best regards to all and I hope to see you all at a future function.
Clem Furphy
I am sad to say I will be a scratching for the dinner this year, as I have a big and long-standing commitment the next day at home, where we are opening our garden in a local open garden scheme. This will require a very early start on the day, and a late finish the night before no doubt! Please record my apologies to the lads, and see you all in 2016.
John Davies
Unfortunately, you have picked the night before our ski club wine bottling, to which we go every year. It is held up in the Warby ranges at the back of Wangaratta – takes about 3 ¼ hours driving to get there. Could you please convey my apologies to everyone attending?
Ted Gallagher
I had intended to attend this year. However we have book to go to sunny Queensland at this time. Have a good night,
David Peile
Sorry that I will not be joining you all this year, but won't be back in Aus in time. We are still cruising, currently in very beautiful British Columbia on Vancouver Island after having sailed here from the Philippines via Japan. Next year we plan to cruise up to Alaska before heading south to San Francisco where our daughter lives. I hope that you are all enjoying good health and have a great reunion,
Peter Seyler
Apologies for having left it so late but I was holding out in the hope that I would manage to join -- alas not so. Please give my very best regards to all year '67 alumni, Len Stevens, et al . . . . maybe next year !
David Jay
Unfortunately I will not be able to make it this year. Will be trekking in Nepal. Not too difficult or dangerous. We are in very good health. Travelling a fair bit -- in Bali as I write this Not more consultancy work and still playing golf a few times each week
Jeff Harding
Unfortunately, it looks like I’ll be a non starter this year. I have to go into hospital on October 22 for a minor procedure, so will be out of action for a couple of days. Apologies. I hope you have a great evening.
Geoff Rees
I was trying to clear the night so I could attend. Unfortunately a family event has interposed itself and so I must regrettably decline the invitation this year. I am keen to attend next year if this excellent tradition lives on again.
Tony Moodie
I am an apology this year as I will be punting my Porsche GT3R around Phillip Island in the last round of the Victorian State Circuit racing Championship.
Still in harness, mainly involved with land development projects around Melbourne and in Cairns and the Gold Coast. We have 4 grandkids and another one on the way; wife Marj recently became a professor at Deakin University, in my book a most impressive achievement at age 70+.
Dave Caffin
Sorry I won’t be there. Maybe next time. It is good to have such a great institution.
Rainer Breit
Will be at our winter abode in the northern tropics so unable to attend. Have a great night. [Later advice was that winter abode is Port Douglas on the links golf course.]
John Franklin
I will be in Tassie that week and not able to attend. As you would probably realise I am not usually (maybe never) an attendee at the annual get togethers. Great idea and I am very impressed by the energy you guys put in. Regards to all.
Phillip McDonald
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this dinner as will be on a cruise at that time.
Angelo Iannazzo
My apologies but I will not be able to attend this year since I am tied up with a tender involving a large copper smelter in East Java Indonesia for Freeport Mining. Not sure why I am still working but I still enjoy the challenge to get projects off the ground in difficult environments, I like Indonesia and helping younger professionals to take over the many challenges. It has been welcome surprise to see the great climate agnostic leave the political scene. Hopefully we may also see a more positive Australian relationship in the region, especially Indonesia. I may even be able to call myself an Australian sometime soon rather than making out I am Italian.
Keep up the good work in holding this dinner every year and hope that I can attend next year. We would be pleased to catch up if anyone is in Hong Kong or Indonesia in the near future. The experience will be different.
I hope everyone has a very good time and my special regards to Prof. Stevens and for all he's done for engineering.
Peter Lechte
Sorry, but I will not be able to make it to the dinner this year. Hope it all goes well and lots of the others can make it for a big catch-up and chin wag session.
Andy Goad
I am disappointed that I am going to miss the dinner again this year, we will be travelling in the US and Canada over the months of September and October this year.
Please pass on my regards to Len and our fellow students.
Gordon Alderson
Unfortunately I will not be attending this year’s reunion.
Please pass my best wishes on to everyone on the night.
