Varsity/JV Rosters

For the first week of practice, all returning JV and Varsity players

will practice together, as well as any other seniors that may come

out. Our varsity team can consist of a maximum of 15 players, but

the cutoff is typically 14 so that we have some roster flexibility

during the season. Seniors that to not make the Varsity team will

be cut. Sophomore and Juniors who do not make the varsity, will

make up our JV squad. (as long as there are no more than 15

players in this group, otherwise cuts will have to be made) We will

evaluate players based upon many things, including but not limited

to: Ball handling, communication, leadership, shooting

consistency, team and individual defensive ability, and commitment

to putting the team goals ahead of individual aspirations. The

best 14 players won't necessarily make the best varsity TEAM.

Freshmen will start the year on the freshmen team, but will have

the opportunity to move up to JV if their skills, and roster space,

allow.

For the varsity team, we try and play at least nine or ten players

every game. While this is the game plan, it is not always possible.

Many times opposing matchups, pace and physicality of the game,

and player performance will regulate who plays, and to what extent.

It is just not possible to play all 15 players in every game. There is

nothing harder for a coach than to not play someone, but it's a

reality of high school basketball. However, we value and treat every

player on our team as an equal.
