What We Do

Cub Scouting and Pack 121

Cub Scouting is a fun adventure, linking learning, friendship and community.

Cub Scouting promotes leadership and caring citizens through values of mentoring, life long learning, faith traditions, serving others, healthy living, and character building. It combines educational and community values and fun.

Pack 121 offers the full range of Cub Scouts, Kindergarten through fifth grade. Your child can start at the appropriate level without ever having participated before.

Annual Events

Pack 121 participates in several annual events that families should be aware of. In January Troop 121 hosts a big Italian Dinner fundraiser at St. Johns Egan Hall. February is time for the Winter Camp near Mount Rainier. The whole Pack comes out for a Rocket Launch in March. In April is the ever popular Pinewood Derby car races. In May the Bears and Webelos can go to Camporee, which is a weekend of Scouting fun. In June is the big end-of-year picnic, usually at a city park in north Seattle.

Pack and Den meetings

The entire Pack meets once a month, September through June. At Pack meetings, there are games, songs and announcements. A parent should attend Pack meetings with their child.

The Dens meet two or three times a month on a weeknight. At Den meetings we practice skills, play games, learn songs, and cover material required for advancement.

There is often an outing one weekend a month. Den outings may include concerts, hikes, or visiting local parks and historical sites. Or it might be skills practice at the home of one of the Scouts. There are one or two overnight outings a year.

It is helpful and appreciated for a parent to attend Den meetings and outings. Note that in Cub Scouts, a parent must accompany their child on any overnight outing.
