On August 13, 2024, the Alpha Pi Chapter provided cookies to the Chatham County Schools Beginning Teachers Meeting in Pittsboro. Receiving the donation is Alpha Pi Member Norma Boone, Executive Director for Teacher Induction and Title II for Chatham County Schools.
Our beginning teachers were engaged in staff development led by Dr. Dutchess Maye. Dr. Maye is an excellent presenter and happens to be a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Read more about Dr. Maye here.
Chatham Alpha Pi is committed to supporting public education in our community through the Chatham County Schools Beginning Teachers Program.

Alpha Pi Supports Food Pantry
On February 8, 2024, Alpha Pi packed 21 gently used purses with toiletries for the West Chatham Food Bank. Last year, this project was so successful with food bank clients that members approved continuation of this charitable outreach to our community.
In addition, Alpha Pi was treated to an excellent presentation by dedicated volunteers from the West Chatham Food Pantry. Mary Dudek and Joyce McPherson shared that in 2023, 108,840 lbs. of food was distributed to 1,784 families / 6,206 individuals. Clients have the option of "free choice" of foods every 14 days. Free choice is a superior method of distribution for clients get to choose items that support their meal plans.
If you wish to volunteer at the West Chatham Food Pantry, an application is available on their website. BROCHURE
