The Scout Oath, The Scout Law and The Scout Motto
What is the first thing a Cub Scout Learns?
The first badge a cub scout earns is the Bobcat Badge. The purpose of this badge is to introduce the scout to some of the basic concepts of the Cub Scout Program.
These concepts are learn through the Scout Oath, the Scout Law and the Scout Motto.
But do not worry, your child does not need to memorize these concepts. They only need to learn the meaning of the Oath and the Law and then say them to their their Den leader even if it means to read them or with help.
The Scout Oath and the Scout Law are ideals and not always easy to live up to. But by learning them, we are simply introducing the idea of having values to live up to*.
