[ESE203] Atmosphere and Ocean Science

Gain basic knowledge and physical intuition in Earth's atmosphere and ocean

[ESE405] Earth Environment Numerical Analysis

We aim to extract information from data using objective, as opposed to subjective, methods, most often via a computer program. The goals of this course are to provide a working knowledge of the basic methods of objective analysis of meteorological, oceanographic, and related data, and to provide a critical facility for evaluating published studies utilizing these techniques. The topics concentrate on techniques for extracting information from data directly, such as compositing, time series analysis, singular value decomposition, principal component analysis, and filtering.
