The CCMEA president will create “blind” applications by whiting out the name on each application and replacing it with a number. The president will also eliminate any reference to the school district the student if from. The president will deep the original applications so that they can be matched up with the numbers after the initial screening process is complete. The committee will review the applications during the Fall All-County Festival and select three finalists from the submitted applications using the following criteria:

The committee will send the numbers of the finalists to the president who will match the numbers up with the original applications and notify the finalists.

Audition Process

(Adopted March 23, 2002)

After the finalists have been selected a new committee of three active CCMEA members will be appointed by the CCMEA president. None of the members of this committee will be from the schools of any of the finalists. Members of the initial screening committee may be members of the audition committee as long as they meet this requirement. (The CCMEA president shall not sit on this committee.) The three finalists will be required to perform for this committee a selection of their choosing that best demonstrates their musical ability. This audition will take place sometime during January or February at a time and place to be determined by the CCMEA president. Vocalists must provide their own accompanist. Instrumentalists may perform with or without accompaniment but must provide their own accompanist if they choose to perform accompanied. The audition committee will also have access to the original applications and will select the scholarship winner based upon the following criteria:

The CCMEA president will notify the winner and the scholarship will be awarded at the Spring All-County Festival. The president will also notify the student’s home school administration so that recognition can be given to the student at their graduation.
