Classic Bubble Bobble (Bubble Bobble Metro 3D) is an entirely new Bubble Bobble adventure on the Game Boy Color, based on the story of the original Game Boy Bubble Bobble. It was released in 1999. Bub is the only playable character as Bob is unwell and so it is down to Bub to save the day from Darkness Drunk.
Bob, Bub's brother, is unwell. It is never clarified what exactly is wrong with him, but the only thing we know is that he can be cured by a magical bottle known as "MOON WATER". This item is in the possession of the evil sorcerer known as Darkness Drunk, and so Bub, being the brave soul that he is, goes on a quest to retrieve it so that he can heal his poorly brother.
There is no sign of Bub and Bob's parents in this story, unlike the original Game Boy version. Also, Bub and Bob are both under the bubble dragon curse in this version.
BUB: The hero of this story. He must obtain the Moon Water to help his brother.
BOB: He is unwell. It not explained why, but he can only be cured by Moon Water.
Bub can breathe bubbles from his mouth to trap enemies.
An enemy trapped in a bubble can be popped with Bub's horns.
REGULAR BUBBLE
Bub breathes these and can trap a monster inside.
WATER BUBBLE
Popping these will cause a stream of water to flush downwards washing any monsters away.
THUNDER BUBBLE
Popping this will send a lightning bolt out in the opposite way to Bub is facing.
FIRE BUBBLE
Popping these will cause flames to fall and burn the platform they land on killing monsters.
