As Christians we are blessed to be surrounded by such a great company of witnesses who gave everything to follow Jesus Christ. i.e. the Saints. The Church recognizes and celebrates the heroic and simple lives of these holy people to encourage us to likewise strive for perfect holiness in our own lives.
