BEAD MAKING
This part of the demonstration department allows street children to try their hands at bead making and jeweler making. The sessions take place at the House of Refuge between 10 and 12noon daily. The instructor asks the children to draw already designed objects onto paper. The next stage is to give the children the opportunity to cut an object, this is often quite difficult for the children and therefore the process is repeated daily. Once a child is able to cut an object, the instructor allows the children to try and sand paper the object. This makes it smooth and attractive. The bead is then fired to change its color. The beads are then made into jewelry by the children, and like the other products they are sold in the shop.
