Caro's Crazy Critters

At Caro's Crazy Critters we are focused on providing a hands on pet and animal experience service with the aim of the highest levels of customer satisfaction and enjoyment.

We have set up a mini mobile farm which can be taken around the local area to allow children to experience a range of animals up close and personal. We intend to at a later stage turn our lifestyle block into a full petting zoo/farm.

We advise anyone who invites us to their place or who visits us on site to be aware that although our animals are friendly, all animals are capable of having bad manners at times. Therefore we advise you that we have certain rules to be followed around our animals, and take no responsibility or liability for any possible injuries or damage that may occur. All bookings can only go ahead with a signed terms of trade/disclaimer form.

We specialise in attending children's functions such as Birthday parties, Christmas Parties, and family reunions , childcare centres, schools and galas etc.

Since opening up we have more than doubled in size, and we know we are doing our job at the end of each day when we have happy relaxed animals in no hurry to go home, and when we see the happiness in the eyes of those attending, or a child who started out frightened and is the last one to get out of the pens or back off a horse.

We have several miniature ponies, some are trained to pull the cart and others are simply just our ride ponies.

We often get calls asking if we can take in animals, anything from donkeys, turkeys, full grown pigs to the smaller rabbits and guniea pigs.

We do sadly have to sell on some of our stock as they get older and bigger, to make room for younger ones coming through.

We also try to offer causal on call work and work experience to younger people looking for that that step from school into the work force, or just that first ever part time job.

OUR MISSION:

To allow children of all ages (and those children at heart) the opportunity to experience a hands on interaction with a range of farm and domestic animals that they may otherwise not get to meet.

Frequently asked questions:

What happens when it's raining prior to the event? We require a $35 non refundable deposit at time of booking and outstanding money paid in full before the date of event. In event of us cancelling (lame/sick animals, weather etc) you will get full refund or offered another date, in event of yourself cancelling we refund minus the deposit.

What age ranges can you cater for? We try to cater to all different age children. This includes those adults who are children at heart. The under 12's seem to prefer this sort of activity.

How many children can you cater for? We will come for any number of children. there is a set fee for us to turn up and this applies from 1 - 15 children over this it is an extra fee per child.

How long do the animal parties last?We arrive 30 before a party to set up, children have access to the animals and pony rides after . generally approx. 1- 1 1/2 hours depending on numbers. Note that the more children the less time they get individual with the animals and the pony ride/gig is shorter.

What do we ask of the children and adults?

All children need to be wearing suitable footwear; gumboots, sneakers or boots are best. It is a risk walking around horses and other animals it can really hurt if a horse steps on your foot. We suggest asking parents to bring suitable shoes when you send out initiations, and parents or party organiser to ensure there is support to monitor children's behaviours for safety reasons. I am a trained ECE teacher and ask the children to respect our horses and animals and listen to us when we speak to them, we teach the children about safety and respect around the horses/donkey/animals so that everyone stays safe and the children learn about how animals need to be treated. If children are hurting our animals and do not listen to crazy critters staff we have the right to remove them from the enclose and animal area.

What we need: We need space to set up our petting enclosure pens and gazebo (reasonably flat area is better) and room for the pony ride or pony and gig ride. Any dogs need to be locked away to keep our animals safe.
