Dear Patrons of Derby Neck Library:
Happy New Year! Attached find the January-February Newsletter with all the events taking place at the Library. In addition, we are pleased to present Carolyn Ivanoff, a House Mistress at Shelton Intermediate School and former history teacher, speaking on “The Life & Legacy of Prudence Crandall” in honor of Black History Month, on Thursday, February 10th at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited!
Mrs. Ivanoff has presented programs on Queen Elizabeth I, Arlington National Cemetery, first Black ambassador (to Haiti) Ebenezer Bassett of Derby, Dolly Madison, History Lost and Found: The Antietam Diary of Sgt. T.D. M. Broomhall, Alaska and the Yukon: The Last Great Road Trip, Votes for Women, and Letters Home to Derby during the Civil War. Every program has been superb, and this new program will teach us so much about a New England personage supporting civil liberties.
All best wishes,
Judy Augusta
Interim Head Librarian
