As a university administrator and counselor educator, I continue to strive to excel in the areas of leadership, personnel selection, fiscal management, teaching, research, and service. My professional career is dedicated to leading colleges and overall universities to greater achievements. I am seeking opportunities where I can apply my leadership skills to advance a shared vision.
I enjoy providing service to professional associations. Prior to becoming Interim President and CEO of NBCC and Affiliates, I served as Chair of the Board of Directors for NBCC. In addition, I served as President of the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling from 2012/2013 and served as the Project Director for the Association for Humanistic Counseling. In that role, I worked with association leadership to develop revenue-generating projects that will sustain the association through any changes in membership or market.
I am currently completing my 10th textbook (several of the covers are included in my portfolio). My books are used throughout the world with several of them serving as the leading textbooks in the respective area. I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with several publishers including Pearson, SAGE, Cognella, and Wiley. I plan to continue writing and presenting at national conferences.
On a personal note, I am married to a gifted counselor educator, Donna Sheperis, who is also highly involved in the counseling profession. Together, we have five children and enjoy spending time fishing, riding ATVs, or at home with our two dogs and two cats.
