On this Web site, I have explored the history behind Calvinism vs. Arminianism, as well as the five major points of contention between the two views. These five points are total depravity vs. free will, conditional vs. unconditional election, limited vs. general atonement, resistible vs. irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints vs. falling from grace. Above all, it is important to view these two theologies as two ends of a spectrum. Traditionally Calvinistic faiths (such as Presbyterian and Reformed churches) are not all on the extreme ends of the spectrum, nor are traditionally Arminian faiths (such as Free Will and Methodist churches). And, of course, like any controversy in the church, individual Christians, congregations, and denominations will not all be of one mind. These questions are ultimately for each individual Christian to wrestle with, but we must remember to discuss them with one another with love. Ultimately God's ways are so far above our own, and like all mysteries of faith, these issues can only be properly understood when we meet Him in His eternal kingdom.
