Brothers, sisters and siblings,
I am writing today to share with you the exciting news that the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades has endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for a second term as President and Vice President of the United States.
Your vote for any elected office is secret, sacred, and your choice. Based on the record from his first term in office, it is clear to me that giving Joe Biden a second term as president is essential for the health of our union, our jobs, and our communities. When we consider an endorsement, we look past the divisive wedge issues that dominate our political discourse. You know, as I do, that politicians sometimes make promises that they don’t keep. This is different. Joe Biden’s different. He has kept every promise he made to our members when he asked for our support in 2020.
Joe Biden is the most pro-union president of our lifetimes. His record is unparalleled since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Since taking office, here is what he’s done for us:
Passed a bipartisan bill that will create 300,000 new construction jobs, putting our members to work for years to come.
Protected our wages by mandating Project Labor Agreements on most federal construction projects.
Ended employer-run apprenticeship programs and invested more than $100 million to strengthen and expand the Registered Apprenticeship Program.
Fought tooth and nail for the bold reform we need in federal law by demanding Congress pass the Protecting the Right to Organize Act.
Placed workers back in charge at the Department of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board. Under his leadership, the NLRB and DOL are putting workers first. In one ruling, Biden’s NLRB ordered Tito Contractors to pay back $250,000 in stolen wages to a group of workers organizing with IUPAT. In another case brought by Biden’s DoL, 593 IUPATpainters organizing with the IUPAT won $3.6 million in wages stolen by a contractor.
We are living through a time of great political divisiveness. Over the next 18 months, we will have many opportunities to talk about President Biden’s record and what we want to see from a second term. I look forward to hearing from all of you. In the end, I hope that you will consider all of the facts and join me in supporting the Biden-Harris ticket in 2024.

Too often anti-worker politicians want to eliminate everything we worked for. They think we won't notice. They think they won't pay a price for turning their backs on working people.
