Dear CALA Northeast Chapter members:
I am very pleased to announce that the CALA Northeast Chapter successfully held the November program at Columbia University on Monday, November 27, 2017. All Chapter members were invited to join the event.
Organized by Chengzhi Wang at Columbia University, Professor Yuguang Wang was invited to present a lecture on "China Knowledge and Library Sources: A Lecture Marking the 115th Anniversary of the Chinese Library at Columbia University". After the lecture and lunch, Chengzhi Wang provided a brief tour of the Science Library, East Asian Library, and Butler Library at Columbia. Additionally, Hung-Yun Chang led a tour for Professor Wang at NYPL.
Chapter members felt that the lecture was very informative, and they learned the history of people and things from China related to American libraries. It was also enlightening to exchange conversation with Professor Wang and colleagues afterwards. The event was a great success!
The April 2018 program which includes an author talk, presentations, and fundraising is in the planning. We look forward to seeing all Chapter members in the next special event.
Sincerely,
Clara Tran
