The Association was asked to provide a reception for a group of runners and walkers from Gouesnou in Brittany which is twinned with Brecon. The runners and walkers were visiting Brecon as part of the Welsh Week activities and were either walking or running in relay to a number of other towns in South Wales which are twinned with a town in Brittany. Caerphilly was the destination on 10th May.
The reception was arranged by the Committee, with a buffet of savouries made from local ingredients and home made Welsh cakes. The visitors were greeted by Cllr Phil Bevan as Town Mayor and President of the Association and John Reardon as Chairman.
The reception and buffet were much appreciated by the runners and walkers after a difficult day out in the Welsh weather!
The Chairman was presented with a Breton flag, three 'Semaines Galloises' tee-shirts and a mounted running shoe (!) to commemorate the occasion.
