July 14, 2010 - NJN-TV recently taped a segment of a new production called "Jersey Fresh" at Busy Bee Farm! We are really excited to be a part of this show and will be sure to post the air time. It was interesting and fun to be included in this wonderful effort to provide information about local farms, farmers, and farmer's markets.
Our cut your own lavender events were so much fun! Even though the third one was canceled because the heat and drought made the lavender brown out more quickly, we were delighted by the positive comments we received from our visitors. To ensure optimum bloom times for next year we've started an e mail notification list that will enable us to schedule these visits better. If you would like to be included next year please email lavender.toni {at} gmail {dot} com.
Thank you so much for your continued support at the markets. Here is a list of all the farmer's markets we attend and their dates, and we also hope to see you at our UPCOMING EVENTS.
June 27, 2010 - Busy Bee Farm's first pick your own lavender event was covered in the Burlington County Times! Thanks to all who came out to join us. Our next pick your own events are July 4, 9am-noon and Saturday July 10, 9am-noon.
May 27, 2010 - Busy Bee Farm has been awarded a Pollinator Habitat Grant from the NJ National Resource Conservation Service and the USDA. For the first year of the grant 35 native trees and shrubs have been planted. In the next 2 years we will be able to plant very specific native wildflowers and grasses to provide additional pollen and nectar sources for our bees. We are very excited about this wonderful opportunity!
It has been so nice seeing our customers again at BCCAC Market in Moorestown on Saturdays and at Sunday Head House Market in Philadelphia. We deeply appreciate all of your "welcome back" and "I'm so glad you're here" comments. We will be participating in more farmers markets this year so please refer to our UPCOMING EVENTS for locations and dates.
For the immediate future, we will no longer have our 4 oz cork-top glass jars of honey available. We are now getting a beautiful 4 oz. glass hexagonal jar for our wedding and gift customers (see photo).
We hope to bottle our Applemint Honey for availability in the farmers markets Memorial Day Weekend. Thank you for your many kind requests for this delicious honey!
UPDATE, June 2 - OUR DELICIOUS APPLE MINT HONEY IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME
March 21, 2010 - Busy Bee Farm's Toni Price is profiled in the Burlington County Times. See our "In the News" page for other recent news coverage.
March 18, 2010 - We have had a very busy winter getting ready for the 2010 season. In response to many customer requests we will have lavender filled eye pillows and neck wraps available this year in addition to our very popular lavender filled pet bandannas. We have also used our dried lavender to fill requests for lavender bath salts, as well as for gourmet culinary lavender sugar and salt.
Busy Bee Farm's greenhouse is full of 3000 new lavender plants for our fields this year. In addition to our favorite variety Grosso, we'll plant Hidcote, Seal, and Fred Boutin. Some of these will be available for purchase at the markets along with the many herb plants we've started for making tea, and for culinary and floral use. In response to many customer requests, we are also inviting artists and photographers to share in the beautiful bloom time here. (See Upcoming Events for details)
Some of our beehives will be placed at Smithville Park in Eastampton NJ, Whitesbog Village in New Lisbon NJ, Andalusia Gardens in Bucks Co. PA. and at Spinella's Farm in Waterford, NJ in addition to our on-farm apiary. We continue to plant many additional native species on our farm for bee forage, and we are working hard to continue to provide education about bees, plants, and the value of agriculture to us all. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL SOON!
