Adopt-a-Stream Initiative

One idea is to figure out what segments of this stream are available under the City of Raleigh's Adopt-a-Stream program. Anyone can form an organization or use an existing one (i.e. Scouts or a family or a neighborhood group) to provide an entity that adopts portions of this stream. If so, there is lots of work for this idea to take off, including:

• Evaluating which of the segments of the creek would benefit Bushy Branch the most? A lot of debris comes in from the areas draining from near Western Blvd.
• Determining access points for periodic monitoring and cleaning activities.
• Decide who is interested in "heading" this initiative.

A map of the adopted and available streams is available on the website. The specific areas of Bushy Branch and its tributaries that are available for adoptions are visible in detail in the attached map.
