Towards the end of 2014, one of the residents of the Bushy Branch watershed asked the City of Raleigh to put together a petition to have a sidewalk constructed along the northern end of Lorimer Road.
To that petitioner's surprise and most everyone else affected by the potential project, the majority of the property owners affected by the project signed their name in support of the project. One of the concerns expressed by some of the residents in the neighborhood was "will the sidewalk improvements negatively impact the creek?" Prior to this point, very few people in the Raleigh area could even name this creek. Several of us neighbors simply referred to it as "the creek that runs along Onslow" or "the creek that runs through Kentwood Park", but this sidewalk project and this question sparked an interest within the neighborhood to better understand this body of water.
Individuals within the neighborhood will be generating content and hopefully data to help with this initiative. Please contact me and let's build out this site with information, photos, and stories of how this resource impacts the neighborhood.
