Steps

  • Register with the Vermont AOE's online licensing system (ALiS) or make sure you can still log in.

  • Verify/update your email address, mailing address, and employment information in ALiS so the AOE can contact you and the LSB can see your items.

  • Document and upload evidence of newly completed professional learning (PL) with Descriptions and Impact Statements.

    • Submit completed Transition Form if needed.

  • Submit to LSB for review (with processing fee).

    • Submit evidence of fulfillment of additional requirements for specific endorsements if needed.

  • Once your application is approved by LSB, re-open pending application, complete the legal sections, and submit to AOE.

    • Complete Criminal Record Check (CRC) if prompted.

  • Submit payment to AOE promptly as there is a 15-day time limit.

View Renewing your Teaching License slide presentation for a more detailed overview of process.

Also see Renewal and annotated Resources pages for guidelines, tutorials, documents, helpful links, and blank forms.

Note that the number of professional learning hours at the bottom of the current Level II renewal process flowchart (linked to the AOE's website) is outdated. To renew a Level II (5-year) license, 90 hours total are needed, with 30 hours specific to each endorsement area. See this update.

Tips:

  • Determine eligibility and requirements for the applicable license level renewal type (or transition).

  • Obtain and upload documentation of PL activities (with Descriptions and Impact Statements) as you complete them.

  • Complete needed forms early in the renewal process.
