Denmark For further information click here. There have been versions since c.1400. Adopted as the civil ensign in 1748, and sanctioned for land use in 1854.

Durham County Council For further information click here. The flag of Durham County Council was used as an unofficial flag of County Durham until the adoption of the new flag in 2013. This council flag dates from 1961.

East Timor For further information click here. Adopted when independence declared from Portugal in 1975, but Indonesia invaded 9 days later. Adopted again in 2002 when independence achieved.

England (St George) For further information click here. The association of the red cross as an emblem of England can be traced back to the Middle Ages, and it was used as a component in the design of the Union Flag in 1606; however, the English flag has no official status within the United Kingdom. Since the 1990s it has been in increasingly wide use, particularly at national sporting events.

England Rose (rugby) For further information click here. There are a number of different versions of an English Rose flag used for supporting English sport.

Estonia For further information click here. Adopted in 1918, but banned by the Soviet Union after invasion in 1940. Adopted again in 1988. White strip not obvious below.

European Union For further information click here. This flag dates from 1958 when it was used for the Council of Europe (most think of as the EC), but this became the EEC and the flag has been the EEC flag since 1985.

Finland For further information click here. Adopted in 1918.

Florence For further information about Florence (Firenze) click here. This flag is the economic version of the flag of Florence. The symbol of the city of Florence is the lily, this is the symbol of Florence since 800 AD.
