Thank you Renee Heath for stepping up to be Popcorn Kernel!!! If you have questions about Popcorn just let Renee know: rheathgirl@yahoo.com
A reminder for the old hands and quick primer for the new folks about the Popcorn sale:
Also, each boy who sells popcorn retains 10% of his gross sales in a "Scout Account". This is a portion of the Pack's share that is set aside for each boy to use for Scouting expenses - dues, camp fees, camp spending money, Scout Shop items, etc.
Now, due to the recent BSA membership policy change many of you are probably wondering why we should be participating in a BSA fundraiser. Please let me make a few very important points:
For those of you who enjoy financial reports here are the latest financial statements for the NCAC and BSA National so you can see where the money goes:
The Popcorn Kernel is a very important role within the Pack. But this does not have to be one person. The duties of the Popcorn Kernel can and should be shared among multiple people. This will help spread the load around and provide for redundancy should the primary Kernel not be able to fulfill the duties required.
The duties of the Popcorn Kernel are:
Ensure the popcorn is ordered and received
Establish and maintain a popcorn depot (i.e. someone's garage, basement, etc.)
Maintain the inventory
Provide direction and necessary supplies for the Storefront Sales
Assist people who would like to execute a Neighborhood Blitz
Work with the Pack Treasurer to maintain Scout Account balances
Liase with the District and Council Popcorn Kernels
Manage the incentive awards for each Scout
Did I mention that Popcorn sales provides more than 50% of the Pack's budget!?!
The Pack really needs a few folks to step up and help us out. Like I said: No one person has to take all of this on!
If you think you can help out in any way please let me know.
Yours in Scouting,
Jeff
