About Us

The Bryan Station Chapter was organized in 1897. Our founding regent was Mrs. Wallace Shelby, elected in February of that year. The chapter was named after the fort at Bryan Station. The art on our home page depicts the women of the fort who gathered water at a nearby spring for the men inside while bands of Indians watched and waited to attack from the surrounding cane.

Our group includes one hundred plus members. We are a welcoming chapter of warm, caring ladies of many ages. We support DAR schools, American Indians, and Veterans with our funds and our time. We encourage participation in Junior American Citizens and American History contests in our local schools and promote love of country and patriotism. Chapter meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of the month (except January, February, July, and August) at 11:00. We enjoy a variety of programs which focus on history, preservation, women’s issues, the American flag, and national defense.
