Details on Plot 40A developments
The landscaping effort is all but complete - rigid pond liners now used as the preferred material for a long term installation. Already planted up with Irises, but still work to do settling the ponds and properly bedding them in before they can be fully integrated with rocks and plants.
Rock & clay has been sourced as a means to 'contain' the mounded planting areas on the West edge, it will prevent the soil from running/sliding off.
Continual effort is required to stay on top of growth where there is currently no weed suppressing membrane.
Planting is taking place as donations and cuttings arrive and Hazel donated an acer that is positioned in the steep bank giving an immediate aesthetic boost..., mainly herbs are populating the SW corner entrance, a rhubarb should grow to fill out the NW corner, and wherever something is added a pole is used to signify it is intended planting.
Barbara, Sue & Dianne have also contributed plants and there are other things in the pipeline, namely some trellises with modifications to make them larger for use as wind breaks around a seating area and benches that are in the process of refurbishment or being made from scratch using materials from Kevin, Nigel & Hazel.
Regular maintenance is now underway with more hands on and progress made at each visit, most of the paths going in to the plot are clearly delineated using donated bark/wood chippings that is arriving as & when available, thanks to Henry for organising this.
