Fish and Chip Restaurants

If you think I'm picky about pubs, I'm even fussier about places that sell fish and chips, as most are dreadful. Here are some that are worth consideration. Most are in Yorkshire, funnily enough.

Brighouse - Blakeleys (Astonishingly cheap, considering the high quality of the food.)

Bury (Lancs) - Tompsons (One of the select few in Greater Manchester that is tolerable.)

Doncaster - Whitbys (A very large restaurant near the Racecourse.)

Green Lane Chippy, Leigh. (Excellent value for money.)

Lytham - Whelans (Try the halibut if it's available.)

Skipton - Bizzie Lizzies (Two locations in the town, both equally good.)

West Vale - Catch (Very highly recommended. A wide range of fish.)

Woodley - Taylors (Both excellent and cheap.)

York - Drakes (Handy for the Minster.)

The best? Tough choice, but if you insist - Catch, West Vale. Not the cheapest, but their consistency is superb and there's an excellent choice of food, including some non-fish options.
