The Great North Run 2022
"Well done to our team who ran in the Great North Run yesterday to raise funds for our Horbury Breakthrough Youth Project. The 13.1 mile run, in the largest half marathon in the world made up of 60,000 runners, is a real challenge and they rose to it. We hope to raise about £2,500 this year which is vital to our work. Record Success for Free Family Fun Day - Saturday 28th May -
Horbury Churches Together, in the 7th year of their Family Fun Day, broke all their previous records. 500 people attended the event, most being families wanting a great afternoon out without breaking the bank. The total was at least 200 people more than any previous year. The atmosphere was very much of community and, on a surprisingly kind and warm day, a Whitsuntide Community Cake 3 feet long by 1 foot wide was cut at 3pm by Reverend Kim Williams of Horbury Methodist Church. The cake was devoured in less than 30 minutes! Held at Horbury Academy the bumper event included a Bar B Q, refreshments, Bouncy Castles, Archery, Field Games, Kite Making and Flying, Hook-a-Duck, Crafts, Music and 3 Facepainters! It was so busy that the Hook-a-Duck ran out of prizes and the cake stall sold out! John Walter, Business Manager for Horbury Churches Together said "It was a big effort from a large number of volunteers, our 8 churches and our sponsors, but the joy on the adults and children's faces all afternoon made it more than worthwhile. This event just grows and grows. Be there next year and join in!
Great north run success!
This year was even more special after having last years run cancelled and it marking the 40th anniversary of the event!
We had 9 fantastic participants this year running to raise money for the youth project and show their support and they did great!

We go on long walks and short walks every day , capturing memories to treasure because it won't be long and she will be gone. Let’s not think about that and just appreciate how amazing she’s is.

We had a great time over the half term going to Jump Inc, Indoor Go Karting and trying out roller skating!

october half term 2018
We had a great half term trying out some new activities!
Bravery
We took an amazing group of girls canoeing on the last day before half term to show off their confidence in the water, and wow did they do great!!!
We DID it!!!!
We took on Snowdon and what and amazing experience it was! Well done to everyone who put in all that hard work and made it to the summit! We really do have some incredible, hard working, determined young people involved in the project.

half term fun!
We started off our half term with a sleep over at the Church with lots of fun and games, We then took a trip to York Dungeons to give us all a good scare!
Not too long of the week off left but we had a great time finishing it up with some indoor Go Karting!

Prayer Space was a great place for anybody to come down, ask questions, think about world issues, take a break or post a prayer request. The year 7s came through as part of their lessons while studying Christianity.
Performing Arts have been experiencing a lot going down a real Coal mine at the National Coal Mining Museum and talking to a bevin boy who used to work in them! They are using their experience to work with music and recording equipment to produce a radio ballad.
