Academic enrichment and achievement is the fundamental cornerstone of any NJROTC program. We are first and foremost an academic program, and we strongly believe that success in all other areas of our program begins with a foundation of academic success in all classes. We monitor our Cadets' academic standing in all of their classes, providing counseling and tutoring when appropriate to help encourage them to do their very best in all subjects and at all times. We believe that academic success in High School begins with self-discipline and self-control, and so these skills are demonstrated, taught and rewarded from the very first day of each school year.
In order to participate in any of our Unit Teams, or in any of our after-school activities and social events, all our Cadets must be "in good standing." A cadet "in good standing" will (1) have all required program documentation on file with the Admin Officer, (2) have paid or is making payment of the required Activity Fee as outlined by Stafford County Public Schools, (3) maintain an academic average of 2.0 GPA or higher, (4) be passing all courses, (5) have an academic average of "C" or higher in NJROTC courses, (5) not be failing any category of NJROTC grading areas, (6) have no discipline actions/issues within the school. In this regard our program sets a higher bar than most school activities, but we have found that our Cadets will consistently rise to the challenge and in the end be better students because of it.
We believe in the use of technology both in and out of the classroom. To this end, we stress the use of school management programs such as ParentVue and Google Classrooms, as well as other computer-based educational programs. It is imperative that cadets have internet access and availability at school and home in order to enhance their NJROTC experience at Brooke Point and to be better prepared to face the challenges of the 21st Century society. We invite you to look at the large amount of internet-based study materials we have created and posted on this website as well as on the school Google pages. You can find links to them in the Academic Pages section of the navigation bar on the left. In each of our classrooms we make use of the eInstruction Classroom Performance System (CPS) hardware and software provided to us by the NJROTC Program. We have additional Navy-provided computers in our classes where students can study before and after school if home access to a computer is a problem.
