Teaching makes me very happy. I am aware that as a scientist and a woman, I'm not supposed to talk about my feelings, but that doesn't make it untrue. I incorporate that energy into my teaching both in the classroom and in designing labs, public outreach, and mentorship. Watching a student understand complex concepts is a unique reward, and drives me to learn more about teaching, to constantly improve my methods in education, and to evaluate how my students could learn easier, make more connections, apply their critical thinking skills, and gain experience to help their careers. Every time I teach, my students educate me in new ways to improve, and point out facinating associations with new subjects.
