I have over 30 years experience in biological sciences research and project management. Graduating from the University of Western Australia in 1982 with a PhD in Biochemistry I have extensive experience across a number of scientific fields. While I have a number of years experience at the laboratory bench investigating biochemical mechanisms in the expression of genes and gene products the majority of my working life has been associated with plant breeding. My career as a plant breeder began in 1988 and culminated in being Australia's senior lupin breeder at the Department of Agriculture and Food in Western Australia. The following are some of the achievements

• • the domestication of 2 species of rough-seeded lupin species ( Lupinus atlanticus and L. pilosus)

  • breeding of Lupinus albus (albus lupins)cultivars for southern Australia

  • breeding of Lupinus luteus (yellow lupins) cultivars for southern Australia

  • breeding of Lupinus angustifolius (Narrow-leafed lupin) for southern Australia.

  • introduction of molecular marker screening into the lupin breeding program

  • management of and participation in various cross institution research with colleagues from UWA, Murdocuh Uni, CSIRO, Govt Chemistry Centre

  • management of and participation in International research in Portugal, Morocco, Poland, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine

  • supervision of PHD candidate students through University of Western Australia
