Presently, Schlachtensee does not exist in any tangible way. You cannot see it, smell it, taste it, touch it or hear it. Even if the German government decided a plaque or small memorial should be installed, it would not be clear where to put it and likely no one would know to go there.
Our project, as realized in this website documenting our search, might be in itself some sort of a commemoration. It is our effort to induct a virtual memorialization of a somewhat evasive place with a real past.
Be a part of it!
We therefore call upon you, the visitors of this website, to help us fulfill this prospect. If you know someone who lived in this DP camp or who was born there, you can assist us by sending in memoirs and/or photos, which we will be happy to publish on this website. You will find our e-mail addresses on the last page ("the authors").
